Project Synopsis
St. Gregory the Great R.C. Church, recognized as the largest Roman Catholic parish in Western New York, retained Lauer-Manguso & Associates Architects to provide the parish with multiple additions and alterations that involved the entire campus.
The project included modifying and expanding the existing rectory into a multi-purpose activity center. This center includes a collegiate size gymnasium with retractable bleacher seating which can also be utilized as an auditorium for theatrical performances. The facility also provides a welcome center for small gatherings and receptions and a landscaped courtyard.
The church sanctuary was enhanced to provide a more effective liturgy, which included relocation of the existing altar and rearrangement of pews. The church was also expanded to include a new multi-use congregational gathering space.
The church’s administrative functions have been relocated into a new addition interconnected with the rectory, existing school, and church buildings.
