Project Synopsis

Founded in 1981, Cornerstone Manor is Buffalo City Mission's shelter for women and children. The Mission provides food, clothing and a safe, clean place to stay for women and children facing a variety of difficult circumstances.

Lauer-Manguso & Associates Architects provided design services for an all new, 3 story, 61,728 sq. ft. facility to accommodate up to 96 women including their children in 61 habitable units and dormitory areas with complete support services, training areas, and staff.

Special attention was paid to the exterior façade in order to blend the building in with the residential neighborhood setting. Interior amenities include a non-denominational chapel, restaurant style-dining hall with fireplace, skills training rooms, day care nursery and health care clinic. An enclosed interior courtyard with playground equipment is a unique feature of the building, providing a safe, secure environment for the occupants.
